Ukraine and the Great Britain conclude the Digital Trade Agreement

30/12/2022

On the 30th of November the parties agreed to conclude an Agreement that would lay the foundations for further successful post-war reconstruction.

According to the Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko: "The Agreement on Digital Trade between the Great Britain and Ukraine establishes the foundations of free trade in digital goods and services between the two countries, it demonstrates that Ukrainian IT companies operating in Ukraine are in demand all over the world."

The Minister of International Trade of the Great Britain, Kemi Badenoch, in her turn noted the historicity of such an agreement and the strengthening of cooperation between the governments of Ukraine and the Great Britain.

Experts define the main points of such an agreement as:

  • Non-application of duties (but freedom of taxation) in digital trade;
  • Maintenance of the general legislative framework for electronic transactions, conclusion of contracts electronically, electronic identification, paperless trade, protection of personal information, etc.
  • Creation of a single window for traders and government bodies.
  • Improving access to public resources of the two countries.
