The Law Implementing EU Legislation on Renewable Energy Sources Entered into Force on 1 October.
On 1 October, Law No. 4963-IX “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding the Implementation of European Union Legislation in the Field of Renewable Energy Sources” entered into force.
The Law provides for updated legislative terminology, as well as the introduction of sustainability criteria, accounting systems, certification and independent audit requirements for biofuels, bioliquids and biomass fuels.
In addition, the Law improves and simplifies permitting procedures for renewable energy projects, including through digitalisation and the establishment of clear deadlines for completing the relevant procedures.
Separate provisions establish the legal status and specific operating arrangements for renewable energy acceleration areas, renewable energy communities, and consumers of energy produced from renewable sources for their own use.
