The government has updated the licensing conditions for pharmacies

03/10/2022

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine obliged pharmacies to gradually connect all establishments to the Electronic Health Care System (EHCS). This is evidenced by the adopted changes to the Licensing Terms and Conditions regarding the economic activity of production, wholesale and retail trade, and the import of medicinal products.

Connection to the EHCS is necessary to ensure the possibility of dispensing prescription medicines in pharmacies by electronic prescription. There is a certain transition period for the implementation of the changes, so the requirement will become mandatory from the 1st of April 2023.

We would like to remind you that in order to register pharmacy establishments in the EHCS, it is necessary to:

    1. Select a medical information system (MIS) from the list on the EHCS website. When choosing and concluding a contract, we advise you to pay special attention to training and support services as one of the priority requirements.

    2. Register the manager, institution and its divisions in the electronic health care system.

    3. Provide authorized employees of the institution with a qualified electronic signature.

    4. Register all other pharmaceutical workers, who dispense prescription medicines, in the system.

During the period of martial law, these requirements will not apply to pharmacies located in the zone of military (combat) operations or which are under temporary occupation or encirclement (blockade).
