The AMCU imposed a fine of 1.2 million UAH for similar markings on the packaging of "LEGO" construction sets.

This was reported by the AMCU press service.

The company unlawfully used toy car markings in the design of the packaging for "KONSTRUKTORSKE BYURO", "LIMO TOY", and "TurboCARS" construction sets, which are similar to those used in the design of "LEGO" construction sets (series "SPEED CHAMPIONS" and "TECHNIC"). It is worth noting that LEGO JURIS A/S (Kingdom of Denmark), LEGO A/S (Kingdom of Denmark), and "LEGO UKRAINE" TOV previously began using such markings in their business activities.

“LEGO JURIS A/S”, “LEGO A/S”, and "LEGO UKRAINE" TOV, part of the LEGO Group, which is a world-renowned manufacturer and seller of construction toys, filed a complaint with the Committee to protect their rights, which led to the initiation of the case.

Based on the results of the case review, the Committee found that the actions of "METR-PLUS" TOV, involving the unlawful use of the markings, could lead to confusion with the activities of the LEGO Group and provide "METR-PLUS" TOV with unfair competitive advantages by using the business reputation of the world-famous construction toy manufacturer.

During the case review, "METR-PLUS" TOV ceased the unlawful use of such markings.

In view of the above, the Committee recognized these actions of "METR-PLUS" TOV as a violation of Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine "On Protection Against Unfair Competition" and fined the company 1,200,000 UAH.
