From 1 December, the NBU Introduced Payment Transaction Tracking in the SEP

11/12/2025

Starting from 1 December 2025, the National Bank of Ukraine is launching a payment transaction tracking service (TrackSEP) within the NBU Electronic Payment System (SEP).

What problem the service solves

This is a new information and reference service that enables individuals and legal entities to track the processing of payments through SEP 24/7 — from initiation to the funds being credited.

Benefits for businesses and citizens

The regulator explained that:

  • for businesses, this means better control over settlements with counterparties;
  • for citizens, it is a clear and convenient tool for monitoring their own payments.

How the service works

Users (both payers and recipients) will be able to see the status of a payment transaction (e.g., initiated, processed by the payer's bank, pending processing in SEP, credited to the recipient’s account, etc.) and the timestamps of all its key stages. This primarily applies to account-to-account transfers via requisites / IBAN, including instant transfers executed through SEP.

A key element of the tracking service is the universal unique payment transaction identifier — UETR (Unique End-To-End Transaction Reference). By entering the UETR into TrackSEP, a user can obtain detailed information about the movement of funds related to that transaction (without personal data).

Obligations of SEP participants

The NBU stated that starting from 1 April 2026, all SEP participants will be required to:

  • generate a UETR for each payment transaction executed through SEP;
  • provide this identifier to the payer;
  • submit to TrackSEP information on the status of execution of such transaction.
