Foreigners can now open and run a business in Ukraine online: Ministry of Digital Transformation launched the uResidency program.

03/10/2024

In September, the full launch of the uResidency program will take place in Ukraine—an electronic residency for foreigners who want to conduct business within the jurisdiction of our country.

uResidency is a special status that grants foreigners the right to register a business under Ukraine's jurisdiction, earn income from outside Ukraine, and automatically pay taxes in Ukraine. Special tax conditions will apply to e-residents—only 5% of the income amount. At the same time, taxes and reporting will be handled automatically.

What is the procedure?

To obtain e-resident status, there is no need to visit Ukraine. The potential e-resident must fill out an application through a mobile app or the e-Residency website of Ukraine, visit the Ukrainian consulate for identification, and open a bank account. In the future, the identification procedure will also be digitized and available online.

Who can obtain this status?

In the first stage, around 1,000 e-residents are expected to join. uResidency will focus on IT specialists from Asia and Europe. Initially, the service will be available to citizens of Slovenia, India, Pakistan, and Thailand, with plans to expand the program to other countries. However, participation is prohibited for countries recognized as aggressor states and/or occupying states in relation to Ukraine.

The program is implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine with the support of the European Union under the EU4DigitalUA and DT4UA projects and with financial support from the Estonian e-Governance Academy.
